FUSION@Cenovus - 2026 Black History Month - US

About this Giving Opportunity

In recognition of Black History Month, Fusion is calling for donations to support youth development initiatives.

For more than 50 years, the National Black Child Development Institute (NBCDI) has worked to advance the well-being of Black children and families through education, early literacy, family engagement, and culturally grounded community programs. Your donation helps ensure that every Black child has the opportunity to grow, learn, and thrive in environments that celebrate and support who they are.

The Impact of Your Donation:

A $500 donation helps the NBCDI sustain culturally responsive programs and national advocacy that advance the well‑being of Black children and families. Rather than funding a fixed number of services, this support strengthens NBCDI’s capacity to deliver proven programs and systems‑change work including:

Early literacy & learning (Read to Succeed)

  • Supports delivery of culturally responsive books and home‑literacy resources for families with children birth to age eight through NBCDI affiliates, including materials, workshops, and local distribution. (bcdicarolinas.org)

Caregiver leadership & family engagement (Family Empowerment Program)

  • Contributes to NBCDI’s 12‑week, evidence‑based Family Empowerment Program, supporting facilitator time and participant materials that help caregivers strengthen early learning and advocacy skills.

Health, nutrition, and wellness education (Good for Me!)

  • Helps sustain nutrition and physical‑activity education delivered by local affiliates, a program that has reached more than 80,000 children, caregivers, and educators nationwide since 2011.

Policy & systems change

  • Supports NBCDI’s national policy leadership, including its 18‑month Policy Fellowship and research‑based advocacy that informs early childhood education, equity, and discipline reform.

Affiliate network & national infrastructure

  • Strengthens NBCDI’s national backbone—ensuring quality, consistency, and coordination across its affiliate network—supported by strong financial stewardship as a longstanding 501(c)(3).
